Illustrative Math Family Supports
Family Support Videos provide background a family might need to support student learning throughout each unit. The Family Support video includes prior learning, vocabulary explanations, math in pictures, and an easy-to-implement activity all designed to help families and caregivers successfully support their student with math learning at home.
Family Support Materials are print explanations of the content of the unit. They also include ideas for questions to ask or activities to do at home.

Fact Fluency Activities
Practicing addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts at home can be a great way to help your child have success in math class. The New York State Next Generation Learning Standards provide the following expectations for fact fluency by the end of each grade:
- Kindergarten: Fluently add and subtract within 5
- 1st Grade: Fluently add and subtract within 10
- 2nd grade: Know from memory all sums within 20 of two one-digit numbers
- 3rd grade: Know from memory all products of two one-digit numbers
Most students will benefit from continued practice with these facts throughout the grades. To help your student meet these standards, you’ll find lots of games to play together at the links below.
